One Bottle, Before and After
Before: a plastic bottle, empty, on its way to the trash. It looks like nothing. After: the same bottle, cut open, filled with soil, holding a small green plant on a wall. It looks like a garden.
That is what recycling really is. Not a big speech, not a perfect system. A small change in what happens next.
A bottle that goes to the trash stays trash. A bottle that is reused becomes a planter, a home for a herb, a patch of green on a wall that was bare. At the foundation's space in Brazil, a whole wall is covered with bottles turned into planters, and the wall that was plain is now alive.
Why does it matter? Because one bottle is small, and that is exactly the point. One person reusing one bottle changes almost nothing. But imagine thousands of people doing the same small thing at the same time. Imagine millions. The small attitude, multiplied, becomes a different street, a different city, a different way of living with what we have.
It does not matter where you live. A backyard, a window, a small corner by the door, any place where a bottle can hang and a plant can grow. You do not need land, you do not need a big space. You need a bottle, a little soil, and a plant.
You do not need to do everything. You need to do one small thing, and keep doing it. Cut the bottle. Plant something. Let it grow. And know that somewhere else, someone is doing the same, at the same time.
Before and after. Trash and garden. The difference is one small attitude, repeated by many hands.
